Super Window Man Window

Thank you for visiting The SuperWindowMan from The Anderson Window Store in Lake Linden, Michigan has been installing windows in the Keweenaw since 1973, when he helped his father, who in fact made windows--though those windows were called “Anderson” windows. So, in a sense, the windows I install are also “Anderson” windows. Not the “Andersen” (with an “e”) windows you may or may not be familiar with, but windows he made, fine for their day, single pane windows, more often than not custom-made.

I’ve been self-employed since 1989 and several years ago, I decided to focus on window installation. While looking at my history, hoping to update this page, I tried to arrive at a total window count…how many windows have I installed, or been on hand, an employee, since that day in 1973 when I was on hand for the first window installation. Alas, only God knows for certain. I do know that I have personally installed over a thousand windows in the last ten years…that takes us back to 2001. I’d like to believe I’m qualified.

I’ve installed windows in: Michigan, Florida, Iowa, Wisconsin, Louisiana, & Texas. Here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan I’ve installed windows (and doors) in Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga, & Ontonagon Counties. I have installed these brands of windows: Simonton, Atrium, Andersen, Pella, Caradco, Certainteed, Norco, Reynolds, Peachtree, Weathershield, Aristoclass, Jeld-Wen, Crestline, Great Lakes, Marvin, Vetter and others.

There is something in the neighborhood of 3-4,000 window brands that I have not installed. How many window brands can you name? Most if not all window manufacturers have multiple options when it comes to windows, just as auto manufacturers offer more than one kind of car or truck.

There are also options on different kinds of glass, wood, vinyl, aluminum, or fiberglass, options on glazing, window coatings, hardware, colors. When it comes to choosing a window, it makes sense to shop around, to seek and to learn what is available, what the different costs are. Locally here, it seems to be a popular idea to advertise that one is "the only authorized" such-and-such. That has never been, nor should we wish it ever to be, the only option available to us.

Anyone claiming a monopoly on a good or a service needs to have their head examined. Again, this year (2011) there is an EnergyStar tax credit available.

The information about the house below is dated. The house has sold, but I’m leaving it on the site as it is information and there’s a lot of pictures involved with the project.
